The Avocet Public Relations Specialist will help deliver innovative, consistent communications strategies that build our client’s reputation and position them as leaders in the technology, retail, and medical markets, among others, that we serve.

The successful candidate will bring 5-10 years of B2B and B2C experience and is a team player, creative thinker, and proactive practitioner. An execution-oriented mindset and the ability to execute on the strategic and tactical levels to deliver high-value PR, MR, content, and influencer engagement is a must.

Key Responsibilities:

The PR Specialist will work closely with the CEO, PR Director, and team leadership to help plan and execute external programs.

• Assist in developing and executing comprehensive public relations and communications programs to strategically position Avocet’s client community in the marketplace.
• Help drive external awareness for our customers and their stakeholders by proactively pitching stories to senior leadership and other industry leaders as thought leaders on specific topics.
• Enhance and maintain relationships with key media contacts to help promote Avocet’s active client activities, services, and accomplishments.
• Develop and drive social media strategy, content development, and analytics.
• Create compelling written stories, including bylined articles and sponsored content.
• Excel at PR/MR/Influencer engagement strategies that get results
• Employ strong project management skills and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, consistently delivering high-quality results.
• Help prepare leaders to represent their firm through external channels.
• Help manage external PR agency resources.

Additional Responsibilities for Communications-based & Remote Work:

• Responsible for maintaining communications-driven timelines
• Responsible for gathering all media requirements for all client projects and initiatives assigned
• Responsible for helping to maintain client expectations within the PR/MR Team specific to communications projects and campaigns assigned.
• Be independent and have the initiative to start and complete projects with minimal supervision.

Education and Training:

• Communications professional with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience
• A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, English, Public Relations, Journalism, or Marketing Communications
• Writing experience in either external communication, public relations, or marketing environment
• Ability to interact and communicate across a variety of stakeholder groups (technical subject matter specialists to business owners), with the ability to present complex information in an easily understandable format and tailored to the audience
• Proficiency with Apple, Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word platforms. Knowledgeable in all aspects of Mac OS and ancillary programs.

The Successful Candidate Will:

• Have previous experience in PR/MR/Influencer engagement role within media and/or communications agency and proven results across PR/MR/Influencer responsibilities
• Have strong verbal and written communication skills
• Be well-organized and detail-oriented
• Have excellent people skills and the ability to work efficiently remotely or in person with a wide variety of personalities
• Maintain a professional appearance and persona virtually or in person
• Perform under tight deadlines
