DENVER (August 18, 2017) – Lori Jones, president and CEO of Avocet Communications, and her husband, retired Aurora Police Chief Terry Jones, have been named chairs of Arc Thrift Stores’ 2016 Born to Be Me Gala.
The annual cocktail event, scheduled for September 17th, will feature a live and silent auction to raise money and awareness for individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Colorado. Last year’s Gala raised over $100,000.

The Jones’ have supported the annual galas since the very beginning, and Lori has served for a number of years on the gala committee.
Lori Jones brings major retail, consumer product, business-to-business, and knowledge and expertise of non-profit organizations to all aspects of integrated marketing in her role as president & CEO of Avocet Communications. She served as a director of the Business Marketing Association (BMA) for seven years, served on the board of directors of D.A.R.E. Colorado for nine years, is past Chairman of the D.A.R.E. program for the state of Colorado and currently serves on the boards of the Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition and Rocky Mountain Down Syndrome Association.
Lori was also recently named to the Forbes Agency Council, an invitation-only national organization for executives in successful marketing, public relations, media strategy, digital, and advertising agencies.
Recent accolades for Avocet include BizWest Mercury Fastest Growing Companies, BizWest Largest Women-Owned Businesses, Colorado Biz Top 100 Women-Owned Businesses, and BizWest Largest Family-Owned Businesses.
During his 35-year career with the Aurora Colorado Police Department, Chief Terry Jones held a variety of assignments. He held a key role in the community, bringing the 800-person agency through several tumultuous events that resulted in national media attention. He oversaw the response to the tragic Aurora Theater shooting and presented incident briefings to national law enforcement audiences.
